One of the most interesting and rewarding things that I did when working at UTEC's Career Services department, was the possibility of creating, innovating, and designing for new experiences.
The Challenge
My team and I had the chance to co-create and work with amazing professionals from one of the biggest banks in Peru, Interbank (IBK), who approached me looking for an opportunity to recruit students in a more engaging way.
Research | Design Thinking Workshops & Interviews
Through several weeks of research and discovery, my team and I met constantly to interview our stakeholders — both from the bank and with students. We extended our research to include stakeholders from other universities. We ended up including students from these universities as part of the recruitment experience because we saw the value in collaborating rather than competing, as well as enhancing the bank's candidates pool.
Recruitment Experience
We developed a new concept and way of recruiting talent. We desiged a new event and created a new trend —"Recruit-on"— which allowed students from different backgrounds to come and work together in different challenges proposed by the bank. The challenges were designed to simulate real-life experiences at the bank.
The event’s goal was to attract and select students and alumni with a particular profile to be a part of the new trainee program that Interbank was launching, Tribk. With candidates that fit the profile, Interbank could face the new challenges of today’s tech world enhancing user experiences.
This event allowed universities' staff, students, alumni, and Interbank's staff to have a different experience and an engaging way of recruiting talent. In addition, this experience solidified Career Service’s mission of being an open and innovative area enhancing partners' experience, boosting collaboration, and designing for experiences that allow stakeholders to be more open to changes and innovation.
Results
The company was satisfied with the event and the candidates they selected to work for them. They constantly seeked for my collaboration on future projects.
